Good Insulation
Polyurethane (PU)
The same as your refrigerator or cold rooms

Insulation on external walls:-
100mm Solid Polyurethane foam (PU)

Insulation on Roof :-
60 mm Solid Polyurethane foam (PU)

Insulation in Floors
100mm Rockwool

Please see the illustration to the right to compare 40mm of Solid Polyurethane Foam (PU) with Brick and Concrete (or Block),

What thickness of Brick or Concrete (Blocks)
Would we need for the same insulation as 100mm of PU?

Brick 1237.5mm
Concrete ( Blocks)  6850 mm

High Insulation and Low Thermal Mass

If 6850 mm thick concrete walls were used to match the insulation of the 100 mm PU.
You would now have a very high Thermal Mass House.
This can work well in winter months in cold climates by trapping the heat that lands on the wall, and radiating it into the house during the night.

In summer this is not desirable.

Have you been in a home where at night it feels like a sauna?
And you go outside it is much more comfortable?
This is a house with poor insulation and high thermal mass.

This effect will be almost nill in your e-mode home.

Suitable for Difficult Sites

e-mode homes sit on strong steel piers.

Steep sites: -

no need for environmental unfriendly cut & fill.

Just change the pier lengths

Poor footing soil: -

just drill the pier holes deeper
